Ankush Safaya (b.1985, Hoshiarpur, Punjab) completed his B. TECH in Electronics and Communication from Punjab Technical University in Jalandhar and Multimedia (VFX) from MAAC in Gurgaon. He is a self-taught artist. He has been granted the award for the position of First runner-up in “Glenfiddich emerging artist of the year” at Nature Morte, The Oberoi, Gurgaon in the year 2013. He had this propensity to draw human forms and landscapes since childhood, but as he relocated to Delhi, it changed his way of looking at things, a vertical growth which eventually evolved into a new language. He hosted his first solo exhibition called “Shapes and colors” in 2010 at Epicenter, Gurgaon. He has partaken in several group shows that include “A Charity Art Auction to Eradicate Polio” and “Chai Wala” which were held in New Delhi at the Canadian High commission and the Hungarian art & cultural center respectively. Being an upcoming artist, he has been an ardent participant in various art camps, fairs and residency programmes held in Delhi and Mumbai. Presently, he lives and works in Gurgaon.
