Appalachari C
Appalachari Chalapaka (b. 1987, Visakhapatnam) is a printmaker and painter based in Visakhapatnam. He holds an MFA in Printmaking from Santiniketan, Visva-Bharati University (2013), and a BFA from Andhra University (2011). Since 2007, his practice has explored depth and perspective through intricate drawing techniques and crosshatching, echoing the visual language of prints. Chalapaka has been honoured with several awards, including the Prof. Vissa Apparao Memorial Gold Medal, Andhra University (2014), the Sri Varada Venkata Ratnam Award, Tirupati Art Society (2020), and the Save Earth Award, Andhra University (2010). His works have been exhibited at the 63rd National Exhibition of Art, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2023); the 131st All India Art Exhibition, The Bombay Art Society, Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2023); and the 55th Annual Exhibition, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata (2021).
